Ibu Ferra Fijantari explains a new mathematics concept by presenting an example of its real-lfe application.
Ibu Ferra Fijantari explains a new mathematics concept by presenting an example of its real-lfe application.

During my observation of the Grade 7 classes of Ibu Ferra Fijantari and Pak Fajar Arif Widodo, I noted that their teaching approach places a strong emphasis on the teacher as both a bearer and facilitator of knowledge. Unlike the Philippine education system, which actively engages students in the learning process through participatory discussions and activities, Indonesian classrooms tend to follow a more structured approach where the teacher reads and explains the content while students attentively take notes. However, this does not diminish the role of engagement, as teachers make deliberate efforts to relate lessons to real-life scenarios, making abstract mathematical concepts more meaningful. Additionally, classroom management is well-maintained, with teachers moving around the room to ensure students remain engaged and on task, fostering a structured yet interactive learning environment.
