Stepping into SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta (Muchild) for the first time, I immediately felt the warm and dynamic learning atmosphere. Every corner of the school seemed to invite exploration, and within just a month of my teaching internship, I had the chance to immerse myself in the diverse and enriching facilities that shape students into well-rounded individuals.

A Classroom That Feels Like Home

Walking into an air-conditioned classroom with an LCD projector, I saw how students were engaged and eager to learn. The interactive lessons, made possible by technology, allowed me to explain mathematical concepts in ways that were visually engaging and easy to understand. Unlike traditional classrooms, the setup here bridges the gap between theory and application, making learning an enjoyable experience.

A Digital Library That Inspires Curiosity

The nationally recognized digital library became my sanctuary. One afternoon, I sat by the neatly arranged bookshelves, watching students research their assignments using digital resources. Seeing their curiosity and eagerness to explore knowledge beyond textbooks reminded me of how essential it is to have access to a well-equipped learning space. The library wasn’t just a place to read; it was a hub of intellectual growth and self-discovery.

Exploring Science and Creativity in the Laboratories

One of the most exciting moments of my internship was visiting the school’s science and technology laboratories. I saw students conducting physics and biology experiments—testing hypotheses, making observations, and presenting their findings with such enthusiasm. In the ICT lab, students were editing videos and creating digital animations, blending creativity with technology. It was inspiring to witness how these labs nurtured innovation and hands-on learning, preparing students for a world driven by science and technology.

A Sacred Space for Reflection and Growth

The school mosque was not just a place for prayer—it was a space where students found peace and discipline. I saw them gathering for Dhuha, Dhuhur, and Ashar prayers, strengthening their spirituality amidst their academic journey. The atmosphere was serene and reflective, showing how faith and education go hand in hand at Muchild.

Moments of Relaxation and Fun

Beyond academics, I was amazed at how the school balanced learning with wellness. During breaks, students enjoyed the green open space, chatting under the trees or working on group projects. The sports field became a hub of energy, with students playing basketball and futsal, demonstrating their teamwork and sportsmanship.

A Taste of Convenience and Modernity

Muchild’s facilities also provided incredible convenience. The buffet catering system served a variety of meals, ensuring that students stayed energized throughout the day. The mini-market, Kapas2Mart, was a lifesaver for quick school supplies and snacks. Seeing the use of mobile banking and an online motorcycle taxi service reflected how the school embraced modern innovations to enhance student life.
